Do Endocrine Disruptors Affect Health?
Well….yes they do!
And before we talk about that, let’s lay the groundwork. We’ve gotta understand the Endocrine System before looking at the disruptors.
What Is The Endocrine System?
This body system is ALL about hormones and glands.
And BEFORE you think that only means sex,
You need to know it is MUCH MORE than sex.
The Endocrine system is a community of glands in our bodies that make hormones. These hormones help cells talk to each other. These hormones are responsible for nearly every cell, organ, and job that happens in the body.
Problems with the Endocrine system can bring these negative symptoms:
- slowed or accelerated development in puberty
- difficulty getting pregnant
- problems with stress management
- excessive weight gain
- bone weakness
- lack of energy
This video does a great job of briefly describing the Endocrine System.
PLEASE NOTE -This info is accurate. However, I do not endorse endocrine.org, because they receive federal funding. Sorry, but federal funding makes me suspicious.
The Endocrine System Performs These Important Jobs:
- Controls how and when your hormones are released
- Sends those hormones into your bloodstream so they can travel to other body parts
Endocrine Disruptors Create
Imbalance of Hormones
Endocrine disruptors are toxic chemicals that are found in our food, water, and many daily products.
These disruptors can affect the balance of our hormones, which create significant health risks.
We CAN greatly reduce exposure to Endocrine disruptors, IF we know what to avoid.
