Singing And Humming For Health Pt. 2

Singing and Humming boosts health in many amazing ways! Why does this happen? Well, consider that everything in our world contains energy. This energy turns into vibrations, some we can hear, others we don’t hear. Electrons vibrate around the nucleus and planets vibrate in orbit. Each of these objects emits a sound and energy wave. I love to consider the entire universe is vibrating in their own symphony of sound.

I Love Humming and Singing

I have always been a singer. My mom vows that I was singing before I learned to talk. I LOVE music! All kinds of music. There is always a song stuck in my head. Many times I hum or sing along with the song in my head.

My daughter has been a “hummer” all her life. She would hum her way through daily life. At one point, I was her Kindergarten teacher. She was humming all day in class. Pretty soon, eight other students joined in and were humming. HAHAHAH! It wasn’t a pleasant thing for me, as a teacher.

My daughter and I enjoy making Christmas cookies together each year. During these moments, the humming becomes contagious between the two of us. She starts humming a portion of a song. Pretty soon, I hum and continue the song. Later, she picks up the song again. This is all done accidentally. It becomes pretty hilarious, once we realize what has happened.

My earlier post talked about What Does Humming For Healing Do To Improve Health. This is truly a way to boost our immune systems against illness.

Humming and Singing With Other People

Have you ever been in a group of people who are singing together? It is often a highly powerful and emotional experience. Here are some of the settings where you might be able to sing with others:

Church – music is an important part of the church service. Choir offers the opportunity to sing more technical songs, with members singing in harmony….that is a LOT of positive vibrational energy. When the audience participates in worship songs, they get to connect spiritual emotions with the musical vibrations.

Rallies – A rally can happen at a soccer or sporting event, at a patriotic gathering, or an outdoor worship event. the vibrational energy is a simple evidence of the high spirits of the crowd. Imagine the crowd singing along with the national anthem before the hockey game.

Collective Frequency syncs up our energetic frequency when we sing together. When this happens, the group of people are all centering on a similar wave length. This is a time when shared beliefs and emotions break down the separation. Singing can actually bring unity, because everyone there has a common thought being expressed through the song lyrics. The Collective Frequency gathered by singing in a group is HUGE in terms of boosting our immune health.

Collective Frequency builds our emotional strength. When we feel emotionally stronger, hormones balance out to healthy levels, and it boosts our immunity.

What Does The Bible Say About Humming and Singing?

Well, SINGING is mentioned a LOT! Humming, not so much. The Bible points to singing

When Solomon dedicated the Temple of God, Levites were assigned to be singers, who dressed in white uniforms and sang along with the orchestra. This was a huge musical group. God was highly pleased with this musical ceremony. II Chronicles 5:12-14

David was “a man after God’s own heart”. He loved to make music while praising God. Many of the Psalms were written by David as praise to God. David also specified which instruments were supposed to be used in performing each Psalm. David loved music very much.

When David was younger, he was called to play music to soothe King Saul. Saul was troubled by an evil spirit, and David’s music was the way he found comfort. David’s harp playing served to quiet the evil spirits Saul felt.

The Battle of Jericho is my favorite example of music’s powerful ability. God chose Joshua to lead the Israelites in conquering Jericho in Canaan. God said, “Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9, NIV). “Then the Lord said to Joshua… March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have all the people give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the people will go up, every man straight in. (Joshua 6:2-5).” Guess what???? It came to pass without the Israelites doing any battle moves! Music was their weapon! This was TRUE Collective Frequency!

Here are just some of the Bible verses referring to singing.

Psalms 100:1-2 – (A Psalm of praise.) Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

Psalms 95:1-2 – O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.

Colossians 3:16 – Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Psalms 147:1 – Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.

Ephesians 5:19 – Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Psalms 127:6 – Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.

James 5:13 – Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

Psalms 13:6 – I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

Psalms 95:1 – O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.

Even though humming is not mentioned, I feel it is a valid way to honor God. Why not hum a worship song? It is possible to think about the words of the song while humming.

Tying together the benefits of humming/singing with praising God is a great Double Whammy for health and happiness!

Singing Is An Important Way To Boost Immunity

When we sing or hum, it can be a gift we offer up to God. This gift is filled with love for Him. Our singing can contain praise for God’s faithfulness. We get to experience creativity while we sing and hum. God wired our bodies to respond to this creativity with optimism and more resilience to fight off illness.

Singing and humming can increase our endorphin production. This sets us into a happier attitude.

Singing and humming can calm you down, if you hit a moment when you are nervous, anxious, or scared. This is something most of us learned while we were young.

Worship songs are a wonderful way to raise your energy by humming or singing. It also serves to fill your mind with praise and hope in God. This is how God wired us to boost our immunity.
